Here it is. The obligatory first post in a new blog. After all, you have to start somewhere.
I thought about what I would tell my clients when writing this initial post -- be genuine, be real, be honest, and you can't lose. In fact, I would advise the same across all forms of communication, both internal and external. In our over-stimulated, hyper-communicative environment, people can smell a "rat" a million miles away, and they will quickly move onto something else. The possibilities of what to replace your messaging with are endless. If you aren't able to captivate your audience immediately, you will lose them. Being fake or misleading is the quickest means to that end.
So, here I am. I've been working in journalism, marketing and strategic communications for almost 20 years, and I've decided to stay home with my new baby and leave the full-time daily grind. However, writing, editing, planning and coaching are in my blood, and I am seeking consulting work to continue to "flex that muscle." The truth is, I love the work I do, and I'm now finding a way to balance that with my young family.
I hope you'll stick around and subscribe to my blog. I plan to include some tips from time to time, and I hope you'll find it beneficial. Maybe you'll even get a laugh out of it occasionally.
Anyway, glad to have you here. Thanks for your support!
